Day 10: Views and Art in Vilnius

We started the day with a walk through the historic area at the end of our block.  We have had great weather.

We went up to the Gediminas Tower--named for the guy who founded Vilnius.

There were great views of new Vilnius.

We wandered a bit on the new side of town (over the river).  Some of the architecture was stunning.

We were looking for the Sugihara monument.  He saved 6,000 Lithuanian Jews by issuing Japanese passports.

We went back to Vilnius University and went to the top of the bell towers.  There were some amazing views.

Even one of our hotel.

We ended up at the Vilnius Art Gallery.  There was a great show on.

Victoras Vizgirda, 1942

Antanas Gudaitis, 1940

Adolfas Valeska, 1944

We are really enjoying our hotel, but will be leaving tomorrow.

Three days seems perfect to see Vilnius.  There is still tons that we haven't seen, but we had enough time to get to the major sights we wanted to visit.
